Below are courses that we have owned and managed with their story:
TPC Myrtle Beach – In 2006 Chip Smith purchased TPC Myrtle Beach from the PGA Tour. The Tour deemed TPC Myrtle Beach a non-performing asset and wanted to sell it. With the purchase, work began immediately to improve course conditions, customer service and all facets of the operation. A greens renovations project was completed along with other agronomic improvements. 18 months after the purchase, TPC Myrtle Beach became the first Golf Digest FIVE STAR Rated TPC facility in the United States.
Whispering Pines – in the Summer of 2014, Chip Smith received a call from the Mayor of Myrtle Beach (John Rhodes). He invited Chip to go play golf. When he picked Chip up, we turned the opposite direction from his private club. As they arrived at the Municipal course- Whispering Pines, Chip said thanks but no thanks. The Mayor informed Chip that City Council wanted to close the course due to years of large losses. Myrtle Beach is The Golf Capital of the World and needed city representation in the industry. Chip was familiar with Whispering Pines as he had played it as a young man when it was nine holes.
In the end, Atlantic Golf was awarded a five year contract to renovate the course and put a business plan in place to stop the losses. By 2015, the course showed a profit. Today Whispering Pines plays just under 60,000 rounds annually. Atlantic golf still has the lease. Both locals and tourists enjoy playing this well conditioned golf course.

Wellington National – In 2015 Atlantic Golf received a call from an old friend Doug Marty. Doug wanted to by a golf course in Wellington, Florida. The course was then called Binks Forest. We agreed to fly to Wellington and meet with Doug. Upon arrival, we found what used to be a golf course. Binks Forest was in such disrepair, they were charging $15 to play and that included a hot dog and a beer. After the shock ended, we accessed the course and facilities and saw potential. Atlantic Golf partnered with Doug and began mapping out a future for the club.
Work began of the course in May of 2015. At the same time we spent hours reviewing the facilities and developing a plan. Once the plan and vison was complete, we started sharing the vision with potential members in Meet & Greet sessions. All visions were on renderings. An old snack bar was converted to a wine bar and Champions Bistro came to life overlooking the 18th green. No architects, just the vison of Doug Marty, Chip Smith and Andy Apple. Memberships were presold and the vison of Wellington National came to life. Today, Wellington National is an incredible private club in the Winter Equestrian Capital of the World.

A full scale renovation project began from the golf course to the clubhouse. In nine months, there was pride back in the community with a well conditioned 27- hole golf course to a clubhouse filled with fun and enjoyment.
Cape Fear National – Cape Fear National sits in the middle of a 6,600 acre development just outside Wilmington, North Carolina. The developer owned the course for ten years. While they were booming in real estate sales, the golf course consistently lost $1,200,000.00+ a year. We received a call from the developer asking us to consider purchasing the golf course. We were able to do so. We inherited a course in perfect condition, we just had to put the proper plan in place to succeed.
In four short months, the club went from financial struggles to having 500 members and being profitable. Frowns in the club turned to smiles. Today Cape Fear National is thriving.
That night Chip contacted the owner in California. Within three months Atlantic Golf owned the Clermont National. The course had been closed for three years and watermelons were growing where fairways used to be. A plan was put into place and renovations started. This eighteen month project was fast tracked in FIVE months! All vegetation were killed, shapers went to work and an irrigation team rewired and replaced 622 sprinkler heads. Sprigging began on tees, greens and fairways. As the course was growing in, a new Pro Shop was constructed. Membership presales started in September. The course responded with excellent conditions in just five months on November 18, 2023. Clermont National quickly gained recognition in the area. Clermont National was awarded best course in the area in 2024 and 2025.

This course needed to have a “fun” aspect as research showed that most guests would be either occasional golfers or beginners. As the vision came to life, we installed all new lighting for night play and installed 43 speakers to pump music throughout the course. The “Fun” part came to life. Today, this course is enjoyed by locals and tourists alike.
Today the golf course boasts the best greens in West Virginia and great conditions overall. Plans are now underway for real estate sales and golf memberships that include lodging. This golf course retreat will soon be West Virginia’s most talked about golf destination.
